Opportunity Past

by LiiSaMaRiie   Aug 17, 2009

She stood there with her head down
She watched him walk away.
Little did she know
There'd be no more chance to say...

To say those words,
The ones he wanted to hear.
The only thing that would make him stay.
What would keep him near.

But she couldn't
She can't. They just wouldn't come out.
She felt them. She did.
Not the littlest doubt.

Going home that night
Brought the biggest of pains.
Walking into their bedroom,
She felt the fear speed through her veins.

As if on cue, the phone rang
somewhere far away.
She felt the fear increase
Night took over her day.

"Honey I'm sorry."
His mother started to bawl.
She didn't hear the rest.
On her knees she'd fall.

She wanted him back.
How could she have known.
"I Love You" would have saved him,
From going down that road.

A Drunk driver, his death,
Words left unsent,
Such tragic opportunities,
Not ment to be avoided.
