Loneliness had me almost persuaded
To let my loyalty and favor stray
But I thought of you and our children
Then decided instead to pray.
For so long you've labored on the railroad
Called away any hour night or day.
Many times in the night when there's thunder
I awake as in anguish and loneliness I lay.
When our children cry out, where's daddy?
I remind them you operate a train.
While my main concern is your safety
And will you return to us the same?
I know you're a hard working Christian man
And it's not your fault you're always away.
I composed this poem to express my need
As for your love and tenderness I pray.
I love you more than words can express
As we solder our burdens as husband and wife.
We can't help but be human and make mistakes
As we journey the struggles of life.
Our challenges are many and vary greatly
Raising children in earth,s ungodly throng.
Jesus never vows to remove all difficulty
Only His wisdom to endure what's wrong.
Let God take the weight of our burdens
We were never meant to endure alone.
He will never bend us, break us or destroy us
As the seeds of His splendor are sown.
