Unbreakable Bond

by Melpomene   Aug 20, 2009

To a best friend, my brother, Kevin.
Someone I've always known.

I once told you,
I was apprehensive
of the dark
and you became
a night light
capturing stars
within your palm.

My defender.

and,
I've watched his
heart fracture;
afflicting was
the pain,
Silently we talked
communicating
by life lines.

You once told me
you were afraid to fly
So I whispered
spread your wings
-You vanished
within flight.

I'm so proud.

You have warned me
of heartache
yet told me to
love endlessly,
promised me freedom
allowing me to dream.

A best friend, A brother.

I thank you for being here for me.

Though 8 years are between us, our bond is strong.

This was a beautiful poem written for someone whom you are close with. Very sweet--such a great sister you are to write something like this. This was really sweet and came straight from the heart. Loved the stanza how you were afraid of the dark but he was the like the nightlight that captured stars in his palm. That was so unique and well done! (: Keep it up!
