I taste blood...

by Mr Rhee   Aug 22, 2009

I taste blood...
on the edge of my lips,
from the cuts on my face.
After the slashing is done.

I taste blood...
when the skin dries and cracks,
from the heat of the sun.
When no sleep comes.

I taste blood...
when I walk off the edge,
and the earth rushes to me.
It all goes black.

I taste blood...
when I walk down the halls,
and into the walls.
No hands out, face first.

I taste blood...
after the gun goes off,
and my head is blown open.
Everything falls out.

I taste blood...
when there is no tomorrow,
everything has faded away.
Death comes to my door.

I taste blood...
when I bash my head against the rock,
until there is nothing left.
My heart still beats.

I taste blood...
when my ribs are broken,
and tear my lungs to shreds.
I keep waking up.

I taste blood...
from the broken heart,
like a dozen knives in my chest.
The pain is finally gone.

The last verse is missing a statement I think it should be bloody minded yet leaves me flat.

    I taste blood...
    from the broken heart,
like a dozen knives in my chest.
    The pain is finally gone.

    perhaps

    I taste blood...
    from my broken heart,
that is like a dozen knives in my chest.
forcing all my pain to finally go.

Blind agony of the heart what do you think?
