Broken

He came into my life,
He told me he cared,
That he was falling in love,
That I was the world to him.

He gave up on me,
Each day more and more,
Soon he was not there,
And I was left alone.

He didn’t take my heart,
Instead he dropped it,
Letting it shatter in front of me,
I didn’t try to stop it.

I didn’t want to believe he was gone,
I wanted to believe he would come back,
I wanted him to still care,
I wasn’t ready to let go.

But now is the time,
I know he is gone,
My heart is trying to mend,
And I am trying to move on
