Minutemen We are all minutemen Standing on the front lines, Waiting for the bombing, Waiting for the mines. The pain's too much to take; We'll never be alright, Walking in the shadows - We'll never be alive. We're children of a Generation that hates us - And truth be told I don't think anybody will save us. So we'll stand on the lines And act like we mean well, But I can tell you from my life That it puts us through hell. Because now it's not a game And your problems face me, Born into a world that thinks We're better without dreams. And despite what you think, We're not all the same. We have moments of weakness, But can you even look at our faces? When the brave and the bold Choose to stand up and fight, Then everyone hates us All in their spite. I say I hate you, Say you hate me, Live or die we'll find out - You'll just have to wait and see. We got lost in a moment Somewhere in time, We've lost our glory, And I've lost my mind. As the real story unfolds About those not so brave, We're not so sure, But we refuse to behave. Having to cope with the pain Of those so cold, You think that you know us, But really you don't. They want to believe, But I tell them I won't - I don't want to be like them, Or be undersold. We feel so alone Surrounded by demons, I don't wanna fight, So give me one good reason! Our generation hates us, Defines what we'll be, Our faults are our beauty, And it hasn't been free. Though we haven't seen much, It's plenty enough To know we are doomed, And that it's hard to be tough. We just want to be young, To be able to breathe, But the war rages on - All we want is some peace! All our prayers are in vain Through the light of the day We don't know what to do, And they have nothing to say. So they watch from a distance Lost in their thoughts Pretend that they know us, Pretend the battle's been fought. But they don't know what it's like To not know who you are, Pretending we're proud By wearing the scars. They say the good die young, But that's not what we want. Can't the fighting be done? Can't we talk without guns? We're the unsung heroes, The leaders in time, And when we lose We can at least say we tried.
