Haiku for a friend

by desleeds   Aug 25, 2009

Wind breeze through the hair
Cool thoughts a warmth of feeling
Serenity soars

Petals drop to wilt
Like tears fall to dry in pain
Colors bound to gray

A smile of yawn
Chirps of bird a morning sound
Blithe to make the day

Drizzles feel the face
Tiny drops to soothe anew
A sigh of comfort

With song the heart hums
As love sways with melody
Throb in harmony

A walk through the sand
Deep steps with past of travails
Windblown memories

Whippoorwill at dusk
Darkness fails to shade the trail
To find life with pride

I was motivated by a friend to write some haiku which I have not done for some time. To recall, a haiku is an unrhymed Japanese verse or poem form of 3 lines containing 5, 7, 5 syllables. For a change it is fun cudgeling the mind with something new.
