The Doll

by AngelsTears   Aug 25, 2009

She waits for you
In a house made of old.
She waits in a rocking chair,
Holding a doll with much care.

You reach out a hand to her,
But then she's gone.
The creaking of the chair has stopped,
And suddenly you are lost.

Then from behind there is a sob,
But when you turn,
She's not there
But there lies that doll.

You pick it up,
And cradle it
As you'd seen her do.

Slowly,
You place the doll in the rocking chair,
And gently,
You pat it on the head.

And when you close that door behind you,
You do not see her crying
As she stands beside the chair,
And the doll begins to rock.

This noise fills the house,
And as the girl cries,
Still,
She waits.

She waits for the one who will pick up the doll,
And never set it down.
