Retarded lies

by Michael D Nalley   Aug 25, 2009

The genius of truth ,the retardation of lies
may be so incredibly easy to disguise
that the earth is in constant conflict
about the change that man can inflict

Though the light that gathers may not escape
The disillusioned attempt to alter its shape
as if they could control the entire fate
of what awaits us at heavens gate

If the planet gets too warm
the inhabitants must conform
Or face a certain extinction date
when the genius of truth comes too late

The genius of truth ,the retardation of lies

*I love this line. I hardly ever hear people
using the word retardation. I think it's a flawless contrst between the two. Very clever. *

may be so incredibly easy to disguise
that the earth is in constant conflict
about the change that man can inflict

*This part is soo true. People are always trying to change the world. People need to realize it's not the world that needs changing it's people.

Though the light that gathers may not escape
The disillusioned attempt to alter its shape

*I love this line, flawlessly crafted :) *

as if they could control the entire fate
of what awaits us at heavens gate

*I like that you said "heaven's gate" I thought that was an intresting way to say that.*

If the planet gets too warm
    the inhabitants must conform
Or face a certain extinction date
when the genius of truth comes too late

*I liked this poem. It had a very important messgae that was easy to undertsnad. I liked the style and the simple rhyming of it. Nice work. Nik*
