A RESOLVE FOR THE COVENANT

by desleeds   Aug 25, 2009

A wonderful sojourn I once took as a growing lass
I was shy and meek to nurture such eerie feeling
Too hazy to think what hyped me along with the trip
A fleeting glimpse for the soul was meant from the heart

Two young hearts with innocent love at its infancy
Not even one to know how to cherish it for real
Only the hearts could fathom the virginal feelings
But never the minds so nonplussed by strange things

Time came when parting had to end it for the moment
With promises to commune through words so sweet
Two months of time never was a single note in sight
So sad like a pain that washed away the joys of love

When time for us to be in a domain for knowledge
'Twas a deafening silence that greeted the poor hearts
Like a cold wind in the dark with nary a thought of the past
What went wrong was then the question of the hour for us

So many years had traveled fate swayed its magical wand
Lo and behold the now mature souls have theirs words smiled
With warmth and care but with hearts so wary of one's covenant
Now as soul mates with resolve never to tarnish one's abode
