Apprehension

Her bony arms grip around my legs
Clutching on for her life.
My ankles, her savior
The cold, sharp teeth of the escalator
Consuming my grandmother alive.

Wasps and bees pervade my stomach,
Stinging my flesh with fear
As today I stand,
In front of an escalator,
Wounded by reminiscences of the past.

The indistinguishable feelings
I faced at that precise moment.
Looking down at my blouse in horror
I was marked
With her blood...

note- this was for a school assignment. we had to write about something we were scared of. this happened when i was 7. I was on the escalator with my grandmother when she fell. this sounds very silly, but i've been petrified of escalators ever since. the poem is 100% true

I liked this. To others it may sound silly but I understand that things that happen can have an impact on us later on in life. I used to love snakes when I was younger but my cousin had one wraps itself around his nack and since then I can't even say the word without fear. It's so strange how these things affect us. 5/5, Em x
