Soliloquoy on Revenge- Disaster struck in Kuwait( sorta long)

by Countess of Monte Cristo   Aug 30, 2009

Revenge.
They say it's sweet.
And they say it's sweeter when it comes late.
Generations are being taught nothing but revenge and hate.

Sometimes, revenge can feel so fulfilling.
It lights off the fire that lives inside the bosoms of the angry.

Only..to spark a bigger and far more dangerous fire.

But, life is too short for it to be spent on planning some kind of revenge. The notion of revenge undoubtedly has a certain amount of logic.. But its consequences are much more than we expected.

With patience and hope, everyone will get what they deserve.

Some say that life is unfair.. But that is the appearance that it wants to give to those who fail to grasp its justice.. It is fair.. if you look hard enough, you will see that life is a just teacher, though its lessons might be ruthless and hard.

Don't be led by pure revenge.. it is a devil that leads you to the gates of hell.. although giving you the impression that you are being led to a satisfying heaven.

If you are being blinded by revenge, it will eventually, lead to your own ruin as much as to the ruin of those whose downfall you have been planning to execute.

And, as Ghandi says, an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.

** Inspired by a disaster that occurred in Kuwait recently. The ex-wife of a certain man intentionally burned down the wedding of the latter. The result? over 45 women and children burned to death. All of them were innocent people who merely attended the wedding because they were invited to it, and had no idea what problems were brewing between the man and his ex-wife. The rest of the invitees are in the hospital as of now, being treated for mild, moderate and severe burns. Some of them have recently died in the hospital due to the burns.

Worth mentioning: The ex-wife was the wife of an abusive husband, in-laws, and of her own family. Truth to be told, she was treated very badly. However, she should have known better. I am not judging, nor am i saying who is wrong or right, because it's not a black/white situation. The concept here is revenge, not demanding rights. There is a fine line between demanding your rights, and revenge. I wish her the best of luck, because she is going to need it.

The ex-wife now stands in trial. Rumor has it that she will most likely be executed. She's only 23 years old.

--To the innocent victims of the Jahra wedding disaster, Rest In Peace.

This was a very thought provoking piece. It gives us a lot to think about. Revenge I think is very wrong. It is the innocent ones that are always hurt.

This is such a sad story--that 45 or more people burned to death as a result of this woman's 'revenge' on her ex husband. Sadly, revenge will always be and is in this world all over. This is something that I believe everyone should read because it goes to show how a disaster can occur as a result of someone getting revenge on someone else. If we could just eliminate our grudges on others in this world and not seek revenge for something they did to us, the world would be a much better place and disasters like these wouldnt happen. Thank you for writing this--everyone should read this.

Revenge or wanting it is a natural part of life. Of course it doesn't make it right. All these people that believe in God no matter what religion let him judge and dell out the proper punishment.
    A good write thought provoking

My answer is revenge is never good. Some people will harbor a grudge for years just to get back the the person or persons who you thing did something terrible to you. I firmly believe in karma and "what goes around comes around". When you seek revenge or actually take action to get that revenge, you are really no better than the person you blame. Yes that ex-wife had a rough life but innocent people should not have died just so she could get back at the ex husband.
