Needing

by Ray Smallshaw   Aug 31, 2009

The day is here at last, when all shades of doubt are expunged from our faltering minds,

No longer the inner agonies of our separation my Love.

Tonight we will be once more be in union as God meant us to be,

We will taste once more our salted tears of joy and feel the warm exultation in our hearts,

And the run of perspiration down our backs after the unsurpassed exultation of our wanton harmony.

Then once more we will bask in the afterglow of our euphoric bliss,

Knowing only we are bonded together by our mutual and loving fulfillment.

Taking an aftermath draw on a long needed cigarette we will caress each other in words,

Momentarily forgetting the needs of our physical attraction,

Until we once more fall into the bottomless pit of our want.

Needing nothing and no one only each other.
