Hanging

by mckenzie   Aug 31, 2009

Alone and helpless
Travelling down a long forgotton lane
Fuelled by these memories
All these memories lying in the way

And I'm waking on
Day after day
But with every step
Strength fades away

Yet I try
And again I try
But I fall
Again I fall

Hiding behind every shadow
That the light fails to reveal itself to
I cower in fear, am I not ashamed?
Am I no longer innocent?

And as I travel the deep darkness of the unseen
I see all these bodies suspended in mid air
Hanging for love, hanging for hate
Hanging without hope of ever seeing again

Swallowed by death, swallowed in vain
Hanging for the cause of all their pain

But as I walk I see an emptiness surrounded by light
A veil of light in the dungeons of death?
And bloodstains of which once flowed
From one who so willingly died that death

And I see myself now hanging with the rest
Feeling the nothingness of my empty inside

And I'm hanging for all that I hide
Hanging with the will to die

Very well done. Stanza no 3, caught my eye, and I realized I'd been there before. Great lines, all throughout.
