Gossip

by Sylvia   Sep 3, 2009

Mindless chatter, spread by gossip mongers,
hucksters, peddling their wares.
Rumors, secrets told to them in confidence.
No one questions them, no one cares.

Rest assured they shape the details,
their words full of innuendo, truth be damned.
Obtuse human specimens, lacking integrity,
they have the world scammed.

Inadequate in relationships with fellow human beings,
they're consumed by envy and jealously.
Smile to your face, then plunge the knife in your back.
Dare to challenge, they defend themselves zealously.

My final words to the purveyors of hateful, hurtful rhetoric,
continue with your empty talk, empty words.
I refuse to listen anymore and leave you with this quote,
which no doubt you will think absurd.

"It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt."

Hmmm..gossip ruins life & draws unwanted
images of a person & at the same time its
useless to fight back because nobody cares.
They rather have a gossip then hear the
    truth..taouching write.

The quote really topped this poem off wonderfully. You wrote a poem full of nothing but the truth. I can't add to what youve said! Great work.

Gossip is an awful thing ... and the tongue the most deadly of weapons. But it also says in the bible "vengence is mine" and the Lord will render unto every man. Strong words...but true... Lol. A heartfelt write Sylvia.
