I hear my alarm
wake up again
another day on this earth
another day of anguish.
i look in the paper, read about the football on the front, then go in to the middle of the paper and read about a suicide bombing.
I walk out my door
look to the left, see a driver cursing
look to the right, see an owner kicking his dog
i walk on ahead
try to make eye contact and smile at the person about to pass me.
they look down and turn away
what is this world coming to?
when did i suddenly grow up?
when did everything change?
Why wont people smile?
Why wont people just be nice?
Are we so afraid of what we could have?
or are we just fighting because we believe its right?
Why are we so pessimistic?
Why are we so reluctant?
What has happened to this world?
What has happened to this world?
Then i arrive at work
Only people complaining
i try to smile and then can't think of a reason
i go on with my job and keep my head down
i overhear some girls talking aobut getting drunk on the weenkend
I peer out the window and see a mother yelling at her child
Why are we so frustrated?
Why are we so vile?
We can be hapy...
are we just in denail?
What are we so afraid of?
What are we so afraid of?
What has happened to this world?
I come home from work
Have an elderly lady give me a look of regret..
I see a man on the isde of the road begging for money
Everyone just passing him by
Hs head drops in hopelessness
I walk up to him and ask him
"What is wrong?"
"I can't buy food tonight. No one will give me a chance."
I hand him some money and walk on.
What has this world come to?
I get home and wonder why?
Why are we like this?
Why are we so afraid of happiness?
Then i put my head down on my pillow.
I feel a tear running down my face.
Tomorrow will be different...
tomorrow will be.
i drift off into sleep...then i had a dream
about the old man, knowing he needed help.
I forced myself out of bed and then got changed and make a hot cup of coffee
I took the coffee with me and walked down the street
Freezing, I tripped over and had twisted my ankle
Then people walked past me
But then a hand came down
It was that man who i had given the money to
He helped me up
and then handed me the empty mug
He smiled at me and said "Lets go refill this, there is always hope."
