Do I Dare?

by Nic39uy   Sep 5, 2009

"I love you" words I dread to say
Three simple yet complicated expressions
Conversely did it become such a cruel word,
Yet bring happiness at the same time?

Seeing couples around me utter
It effortlessly and absentmindedly as if it was air
I was competent to say it once but I was so naive
Thinking I actually find "Her" when she wasn't

Learnt that love wasn't as it seemed
Love didn't entail these three words
In order to prove you loved the person
Yet we rely solely on those words to rationalize our love

Can't get a grasp on love, though most
People can't either yet we try despite the consequences
They want to seize it and verify their love
Some are fortunate enough to acquire this love

Yet manage to lose it all so simply
With just a blink of an eye...
Learn to cherish those dearest to you
And those truly important...remembered forever in your heart

But it's hard to even do that
When all those dearest, betrays your love
And shatters your one prize possession
Which God has bestowed upon us to give to another

So standing before me is one truly dearest
One I've done so much for and always been there
With my one and only heart in my hand
Do I go against my guide lines and exchange my heart?

As she stands before me waiting
My mind and soul converse with each other
And asks my heart:
"Do I dare go through this again for 'Love'?"
