Rock n' Roll

by No Need For A Name   Sep 7, 2009

Tell Mandi if she calls
I won't pick up the phone
I'm back in 1956
With Billy and the boys
And tell her if she calls
She'll break my heart no more
I'm moving to LA, baby
To play my rock n' roll

Sometime you, will find me
On the cover of Rolling Stones magazine
Well maybe, baby, it's only true
That this city has driven me from you

Tell Julie if she calls
I can't pick up the phone
I'm back in 1969
With The Velvet Underground
And tell her if she calls
I don't live here no more
I'm on my way to Memphis, baby
To play my rock n' roll

Sometime you, will find me
On the cover of Rolling Stones magazine
Well maybe, baby, it's only true
That this city has driven me from you

I know I'm not the king
Or even royalty
I know I'm not the king
Of rock n' roll
I know I'm not the king
I'll do this just for me
I know I'm not the king
Of rock n' roll

Sometime you, will find me
On the cover of Rolling Stones magazine
Well maybe, baby, it's only true
That this city has driven me from you

Excellent poem! I loved it. Thought it really well written, the structure was excellent, such power in each verse, the flow and pace was great too, it all worked really well. Loved the rok'n'roll feel to it, like it was written on a tour bus, with all the dreams and ambitions in mind. :)

Unique and an easy read or I should say sing. Your words made me want to do just that. Well done.
