Your Intentions Were Pure

by divine divinity   Sep 7, 2009

I'm not saying you weren't there,
Because you were. I saw you watching.
I'm not saying you didn't care,
Because I know you did. I saw that too.

But I'm going to tell you,
You smothered me,
Suffocated me,
Kept me trapped.
When all I wanted to do was breath.

I didn't want to talk,
I didn't want to explain,
I just wanted quiet from the chaos.

The pressure to share,
Intentional or not,
Added to my woes.

I know you didn't understand,
You knew you didn't either,
You tried, I saw that.
But every step you took was the wrong one.
There was no right path you could of walked,
It was war, and I was the bomb about to explode.

Wrapping me in cotton wool added fuel to the fire,
But if you didn't I would of asked why you didn't care.

That's what I'm trying to say,
Each turn created new obstacles,
But doing nothing would of caused problems too.

I love you, you're my family, my friend,
I know you love me too, I feel it everyday,
But don't pretend you knew how I felt,
That you understood,
Don't pity me or make me feel small,
Intentionally or not,
It adds salt to my wounds, making it harder to heal,
Attacking my new guard.

All I can say now is,
I'm not a child.
You don't have to carry me.
Let me go.
Let the past go.
You'll never know how it felt.
I'll never try to explain it.

This one is very powerfully worded and strait from the heart.I thought it flowed really well also and i thought you expressed what you were going through very clearly. another great write!!
