Uncertain questions

by divine divinity   Sep 9, 2009

Why do I seek love?
The word sounds so plain.
I don't need a partner to be complete,
Yet I feel empty without them.

How do I find it? If I've never felt it?
Do I search for familiar sensations?
Or go for the unknown?
Does Mr. Right look for me too?
Or is he already happy?
Is there a path to my prince?
One that turns me into a queen?
Or do I have to hope I'll see a sign?
What if I walk right past?
What if I have a court of choices, more than one king?
But never find them for they're busy with other maidens?

Can I trust the valiant knight?
When all I see is shattered hearts?
This world was built on love,
No wonder its burning down.

How can happily ever after last for forever?
One can hope to be the exception,
But look at reality not Disney,
And its all there in its painful glory.

I know the risks, have seen the downfalls, I understand the uncertainty,
Yet I still want my Man of Steel,
My hero, my love, I want to feel it, just not the bad.
If I found him, could we make it work?
Or would we become another failed fairy tale?

There should be a helpful map,
With labels and coffee stops.
There should be a simple pop up,
Giving answers to our questions.

But then where's the fun of the new and exciting?
Right before the doubt and fear that's where.
I suppose that saying of better to have loved and lost should be the poetic end,
But I think I'd rather be the crazy cat lady than have my heart trampled on.
Although going tragically next to Romeo sounds like an interesting conclusion,
Forever in love,
Because you're dead and can't change your mind.

And what about the new love stories?
Of vampires, werewolves, shape shifters and wizards?
Can I have one of them?

I guess this poem will be incomplete,
No profound insight,
Or nuggets of knowledge.
The final lines left blank,
Just like our own stories.

Ive noticed you have lots of questions in your poetry. Which means there are lots in which you still need to experience. your emotions are blooming and its just the beginning. you can live in a world the way you percieve it. Reality shows us that there are good things in life, but more unfortunate things to be had. In a way, that balance is best. for if we all experienced the good, at every given moment, then what joy are we granted when we get that moment of clarity and happiness. its to understand the rarity of things and how important they are once they finally come around. Your questions will be answered one day. just keep writing, and you will notice your poems bloom as your emotions do.
    Good write.
    keep up your philisophical ideals.
