Heart On A String (Revised Again)

by Curing the Comon Cliche   Sep 11, 2009

When I was a child
I'd sit on the swing
And close my eyes tight
I was everything

I'd hang my head back
And believed I could fly
Now, my head hangs down
I pretend not to cry

When I was a child
I had eyes on this girl
She was the queen of monkey bars
And this sandbox world

I'd share my juice
And we'd play anything
Now, I have this girl
Who has my heart on a string

It spins and it twirls
It's all just for her
How big is our playground
In our sandbox world

When I was a child
My cape was a dress
I tied around my neck
To save the damsel in distress

Now I know I'm not a hero
And distress means so many things
But one thing is certain
She has my heart on a string
