Milk

Lying on green grass that stings
A faint dog's bark far away
Leaves rustle as the autumn wind makes them sway
And a kid calling his dog Lolita
while another, with skates under arms, trying to catch up
A moment almost Haiku like

Tranquil moments in the memory feel alike
the way buried ones release a quiver, still. A sting
of a syringe, a worn-out bed and it's hard to get up
drowned in a world of oblivion somewhere away,
surrounded by the same walls, still. On the shelf lies Lolita
I struggle to balance myself but the world starts to sway

Then a melody floats, on a gloomy day, trees and people start to sway
in a dreamlike way. Life's beauty emerges from dark nooks like
Humbert's sickly, pristine love for his Lolita
Love, a bee carrying sweet nectar, that unexpectedly stings
when it's generations and calendars away
or when the given time for two destined souls is up

Resting my head on your knees, looking up-
ward at you, hold me tight, let's sway
to the melancholy rhythm of life. Sweep me away
let's celebrate over a glass of wine like
Dionysus worshippers, hurry before life stings
Again. Nine years my senior, I am your Lolita

In red bold letters it says Lolita
on my edition of Nabokov's masterpiece, up
on my shelf, reviving wounds that sting
a dark memory with a tint of innocence that sways
lucidly in my mind, like
a child watching twinkling lights of boats far away

As sands of time pour down, I lose myself in a dream worlds away
while lying on the shore on a lazy summer's day, with Lolita
in my hands. The waves shove one another like
my domino memory. One after another, going down and up
pieces collapse consistently, like dancers that sway
creating a moment and a face adorned by a scent. It stings

Away I leave in a world filled with candy and dreams, in the clouds up
Lolita, I am, your Lolita, but you're no Humbert because I miss you, let's sway
like lovers and forget the siege in between, make love to me before life stings.
It's inevitable.
