An Ending Road of Lament

by David Marshall   Sep 12, 2009

When the Day has come where you have nowhere to go,
Where the Dark jarring road Dims into a spec of debris.
When the tattered signs guiding your way have been distorted into nothing.
What will you do.

Who's gentle hands will sweep away your tears
as they slowly surrender to your hearts perplexed and oh so empty thoughts.

you've Walked this road so very long.
there were moments where you could have sworn you heard a voice,
a voice that echoed deep within the flowing beats of your soul.
You dared not to look back.
you allowed that voice to fade with the roads umteen amount of cracks behind you.

But now the day has come where you have nowhere to go,
you're lost breathing in your sorrow,
and exhaling your forgotten memories.
that breathe breaks apart eroding whatever hollow meaning they held.
You can't help but ask yourself why.

Why didn't you stop.
Why didn't you look back.
why didn't you let that mourning voice approach you.
To guide you down an endless road.
to give you and your lost bewildered heart some clarity.
To take that shattered heart and show it where to go.

But now the day has come where you have nowhere to go.
and I'm too far behind the road.
I bleed a new life and my tears shackle me in chains of damned and hopeless memories.
your road has whithered into darkness and my voice folds into a road that you left behind,
In a time too late for you to once more grasp.
in a time too late..

Well David you were not wrong in your profile you certainly put your emotions into words in this poem and I must admit I have been there and felt the pain many years ago now and I have a new life with a new partner who has given me joy and love so do not let life drag you to far down as there is gold at the end of the rainbow. Sadness has a price and the heart takes time to heal.
A truly emotional poem wonderfully contrived as all good poems that come from the heart and emotions are excellent 5/5 Ray S
PS I don't agree with Max it is just right.
