Sweet Dream

by Countess of Monte Cristo   Sep 12, 2009

Cold, chilly night.
Dancing trees.
The smell of fresh raindrops.
And a gentle breeze.

I slip out of the room quietly.
As i fix us some food.
Him sitting there thinking.
Some music to lift the mood.

It is happy new year's.
Just him and me.
Then he pops up the question.
"Will you marry me?"

A cold, chilly night.
Outside there's dancing trees.
And as i wake up from this sweet dream.
I find there's no one here but me.

*All that we see or seem, is but a dream within a dream. - Edgar Allan Poe

Beautiful poem but with a really sad ending. It's never nice to be alone but we do always need our space. 5/5, Em

A brilliant write... and a great quote to go with it :) It made me go "Aww" and the end when I realised it was a dream Lol. But hey!... Dreams can come true! :) Keep believing... Great poem. Well done.

Aww although we have these dreams and wake up from them realizing it was all just a dream they can still come true. So no reason to give up hope.. right? Great write.

It is awful to realize it was a dream, not reality but we can hope. Good job.

    Walah
What a sad heartbreaking piece. Sometimes we can get lost in the sweetest of dreams only to wake to a cold reality.
    Excellent job!
    Take care dear
