Such a sad poem of loss.
I had a teacher that lost his wife. 8 months later he went too. Some say it was a broken heart.
Your poem shadowed that feeling , painful and left behind.

    What a heartbreaking piece.

A withered old man sits beside the bed,
holding the wrinkled hand of his beloved.
Many thoughts fill his head with dread,
as she valiantly struggles to live.

What a gut wrenching picture this paints. It is so hard to lose your true love to death and have to remain behind to wait alone for it to come and claim you.

Our time together has been so brief.
Hear my prayer God, please don't take her,
for I could not withstand the grief.
Let us have a chance to love evermore.

I can feel the mans grief as he pleads with God not to take her from him.

Tears fill his eyes as he asks why?
Was there another angel needed in heaven?
Burdened with sadness, he says his last goodbye,
determined not to become a bitter man.

I'm glad he got to say good bye. It's terrible when someone is snapped away in front of your eyes and you never get the chance. :(

My darling wife, soon we will be together again.
Until then, my days will be full of sweet memories,
times of shared laughter, roses and champagne.
Our love will endure in paradise eternally.

The promise of eternity keeps you going day after day.
    Excellent job!
Congrats on placing in the team contest.
    Love Cindy

My, this is very heartwrenching. There are a lot of why's that we keep asking, but sometimes u get the answers, sometimes u don't.
The idea of eternal happiness and imminent reunion between man and his wife gives this piece a hopeful ending, which was the right way to end it.
    No doubt,5/5. Walah.

Beautiful poem, very nicely written. I could see the man crying right in front of my eyes.

'Tears fill his eyes as he asks why?
Was there another angel needed in heaven?'

This line made me burst too.

    Awesome poem

all the best and take care

The first line was gold. After that I knew I was reading a great poem. Everyone says it's sad and indeed it is but the way you wrote this is simply beautiful. There is no other word to describe. I loved it :) Keep up the amazing work. Nik

When a couple lives together for a very long
time, they find it hard to live when the other
    half dies...a touching write.

A heart-wrenching moment you've portrayed so beautifully here. Your poem fills me with compassion and sadness for this old couple, holding onto their happy memories as time is swifty running out.
