Courtships

by Ellis   Sep 16, 2009

There were written on these old houses
Of soldiers and mice, moonlit and soused
Want for dances with dolls in pink
Disturbing the world, drink for drink

And steps are run, but nothing gained
Pages turned, yet they remain
Reread and reread until they are dry
And folded into the grays of night
