Pretend

I thought time was on my side,
I knew life was never right,
I thought I would just ride,
Pretending things were alright,

I spent each moment running away,
Pretending I could escape fate,
Too many feelings made me stay,
Including reasons I grew to hate,

Silence had me lost in pretend,
The games I've played were real,
Even the best times would end,
With more memories to steal,

Illusions confuse my mind,
The world is surely ending,
Truth begins to unwind,
But I'll just keep pretending...
