The Trolley Of Life

by Scott E Buttross   Jun 15, 2004

The trolley of life
Will drop your soul
At different points in time.
Following a route with
Different costs
And unknown street signs.

You can get lost
Along the detours
That plague our design.
Freedom is almost choked
By decisions we make blind.
It is worthless to go
Where our mind ponders.
If never to invoke
Our hearts desire.

With every curb is a test
Littered by detraction
That clutter our way.
The cost of each day
A minute faction
Of memory will stay.
If we forsake our aspirations
And the goals that we made,
All is locked in a briefcase
For trade.

Age now a cast to
Travel on board.
Snagged on the doors
As they folded at last.
New day’s entry is barred;
You no longer may pass.
Exposed a pickled liar,
Tire of rent past trialed.
Your Orphaned dreams
Have been filed forever in fire.
Your envoy has expired themes,
As a child you desired.
