The Requiem

by Ramblings of an ageing Kid   Oct 1, 2009

As we bow down in appreciation to what we have
We close our eyes on the smiles we left behind
Yet we lose and lose, nothing but shame we seek to gain
And Billions more are left with rotten bodies and idle minds

Happy to die, sad to live
And see the fears once again relive
Embracing the shadows in our darkest nights
For they are the shelter to who we have become

Oh Mr. Man, when will you see?
Your civilizations brought only war to me
But the Euphoric pleasure, the climax that you get
Out of power, drifts you away from who you could have been

Remember when we used to paint the wide ocean green
Remember when the sky was not the limit to what we have seen
Remember the angels, the rainbows, Icy Mountains, and all the color schemes
As far as you remember how to kill for greed

Listen to this enchantment, a requiem for me and you
And every mask that carries behind its doors our defaced truth
Howling like whistling wind when the leaves grow old
When the world becomes uglier than a moment before

When I was ten years old, they took it all away
They told me Santa was a lie, then all my dreams gone astray
I took my baby shovel and buried my imagination within
My best friend, Mr. Ray, never spoke to me ever since

One day, when the dearest pass by our world and say goodbye
We smile outside and cry within, as the world just goes on
Despite the agony and despair we refuse to believe
That the world will stop spinning one day, yet we never seem to deny
