Stepping Into Magic

by LenaLee   Oct 4, 2009

A child walks the stone steps leading to a secret entry,
Her eyes wandering around her,
She smiles.

As she enters,
She loses her footing and one of her slippers fall off,
The secret doorway in the great Oak closes behind her,
And disappears.

The child finds herself in a world with no boundaries,
A place of magic and delight,
She dances with elves and sleeps beside the dwarfs,
She doesn't want to leave.

She won't leave.

A boy is walking through the forest one day,
The sun glimmering,
He spots a set of stone steps,
Following them leads him to a light brown slipper,
The laces untied.

What a wonderful poem. I truly enjoyed the storyline and could even see how it could expand actually I'm curious to read what happens when they meet! Great job love!

I cannot belive no one has commented on this lovely piece yet! Thank you very much for entering the contest, your poem was really good and I had a hard time picking the winner. What I liked about your piece was that it wasn't overly descriptive, or used fancy wording, or was written in long stanzas, but it portrayed innocence and it satisfyed the reader. It made me smile and the only suggestion I can give is to go a bit more in detail about the girl's visit there, maybe just a couple of lines would do it a bit more justice. Also, I did not like how you repeated "secret" so close to each other, just think of a more unique word. Excellent write, 5/5 from me!

God bless you and take care.
