And She Whispered

by Chloe Johnson   Oct 7, 2009

That day was no different
The sun was as brilliant as ever
My teacher had me thinking,
"God, I'm going to be in school forever."

Suddenly I dropped my pencil
I bent down to get it below
As did she at the same time
And she whispered, "Hello."

From there my body shook
Day after day I yearned for more
Night after night I dreamed of her
Falling harder than ever before

One day, while walking through the halls
We collided, her books fell
I helped her pick them up
And she whispered, "I'm Kell."

From that day on we became friends
When she would come to my house
We would laugh together for hours
Trying to be as quiet as a mouse

Then one night we were talking
Said she wanted to be free
From her tears, she looked up
And she whispered, "Kiss me."

More than friends we became
But only behind closed doors
The judgment of others terrified me
I knew I had to fight more

Once again, through the halls we walked
Finally she had the last strand
Students swarmed around us
And she whispered, "Hold my hand."

For months I fell in love
With the stranger I never before knew
I loved everything about her
Especially the kisses she blew

But all relationships have their flaws
And fights we did embody
After breaking dishes and screaming she stopped
And she whispered, "Touch my body."

We made love that night
Just 18 years old
So young and stupid
Yet so fierce and bold

Seven years later she was still my girl
Around her I always felt a mess
One Thanksgiving I kneeled down
And she whispered, "Yes."

A wonderful life we had
That silly girl and I
But little did I know
Our time was about to die

It was a rainy night
She was away from home, then her pain I felt
I called her cell phone quickly
And she whispered, "Help."

I rushed to the hospital
The roads were wet, her car hit a tree
Reality hit me hard and I realized
She would never look at me

I sat by her bed, holding her hand
From this terror I could not hide
With her last breath she slowly let go
And she whispered, "Goodbye."
