Halloween Treats

by Sylvia   Oct 8, 2009

Jack-o'-lanterns carved, candlelight flickering,
casting macabre shadows in the night.
Treats at the ready for the ghost and goblins,
witches on their brooms, ready for flight.

From house to house the children go,
knocking and shouting, trick or treat.
Filled with anticipation, waiting for the door to open,
to see what sweet concoction will make the night complete.

Squealing with delight, bags full of candy,
it's off to home to see the bounty they collected.
Sweets spread on the floor, sorted by favorites,
Mom says only one piece can be selected.

They beg and plead, please just one more
before we go to bed, they're hard to ignore.

Waw you made me revisit my childhood years. I remember taking a hugh bag and go knock on all the doors in the neighbourhood, and they would offered me lots of sweets, but i didn't like much the costumes when i were younger like 5 or so. Sylvia, you're such a great poet in any form you do. Well done, kel.
