How Could I Be Alright Today?

by Soulful Ensemble   Oct 11, 2009

Am I alright?
I'm as good as I can be without a heart.

Cold rain has muddied the swamp
Where my heart lays drowning
Through stormy dreams and nightmares
Where your trace dimmed like night in darkness.

Am I alright?
Don't ask me please-- if you have to question it means: no.

Damp mornings without dew
Without sunshine through the clouds
With black horizons where the sun once was
Crush a weak heart that feels alone inside.

How could I be alright today?
How dare you ask?

My soul gave up when thunder struck
The ears that fell asleep in apathy
And couldn't listen to the broken sound
Like suffocating while breathing.

What else could you ask now?
Everything is out.
You know how I feel inside
And that love is loud.

Vibrations through glass shatter
Every glance that looks this way
Like some heart that's battered
Held me tightly through the day.

Seeing you again means rain
And lightning in my soul.
How do you cause this pain?
When you made me so whole?

And then there is another lover
Resurfacing through clouds
But still holding to a crutch
Like I'm some kind of clown.

If you want me take me now
I wont wait around for you
Because I always vowed
To stop feeling this blue.
