Putting the 'Good' Back in 'Goodbye'

by LostLikeTearsInRain   Oct 12, 2009

These dreams are ending
They won't come true
They die with the heart
That has stopped loving you

I'll take what's left of my pride
And escape this storm
Finding new solace in solitude
As I shake to keep warm

My stomach hurts
As your tears wound my will
Your eyes begin to narrow
As you lunge for the kill

I won't let you in now
For you have no place here

What happened to you baby?
You've finally lost your touch
I need to let you go
I won't let you be my crutch

How do I say goodbye
To the one that meant the most?
No amount of words
Could ever come close

Close enough to what you've meant
These last four years
We had our fair share of smiles
And we had our flow of tears

Now the clouds have lifted
I see things in a whole new light
For far too long I was so unsure
But now I know I'll be alright

In my book of life
I read all new text
I'm on the edge of my seat
Anxious for what happens next
