"The Lovers Cry"

by Stephanie Ricks   Jun 15, 2004

They planned to sail off upon the ocean.
For a sweet and romantic evening.
You could see the love that they shared,
As they held each other before finally leaving.

How were they to possibly know,
Of the storm rapidly moving in.
We all watched the news that day,
Even the coastguard said"no reason to stay in".

So they continued on their mission,
To some beautiful secluded island.
When darkness suddenly covered the sky,
And the thunder boomed like an exploding gun.

The storms massive wind came at them from every side,
As the wind that whispered grew to an evil like wail.
And the rain fell so hard feeling like bee-stings,
When at the same time along came the hail.

They symptomatically looked at each other,
Reading the fear in each others eyes.
As in that very moment they both knew.
That, that would be their last ride.

It has been seven years since they passed away.
But if you sail their path as clouds cover the sky,
In the bellowing waves beneath your sail,
You can hear the lovers cry.
