Plague Of Loss

by ADEL   Oct 13, 2009

I befriend Death tonight

I weep

I defame the moon

I defame the light

I befriend death tonight

I leap

I spring over the light

so a god there I face

and a prophet grand to fight

for cracked is my belief

and all that I sight

I befriend death tonight

I creep

I slip over the light

that high is my lowness

and low is my height

as if though my right is wrong

and wrong is my right

I befriend death

Death befriends me tonight

I keep

I store all the light

bashed in emptiness

stuffed in night

that naught is left to sear

nor to burn

and to light

I befriend Death

Death befriends me tonight

I heap

I gather over the night

and if it happened you ask me

of a shineless look in my sight

know shame is not upon me

but is upon the light

    Really enjoyed this poem nice pace and flow. The only thing that gives the reader a slight awkwardness is the line;

"that a god there I face" it just seems to interrupt the flow with the word 'that', or maybe it's just the way I'm reading it. Otherwise great job!

You are the master of sad poems. It has been a while but you did not disappoint. Well done.
