Epiphany

by Anthony M   Oct 14, 2009

Contemplating life's fleeting nature,
how short our time here really is
day to day we all seem to forget,
thinking that ignorance is bliss.

Many are caught in the rat race
the joys of life escape their grasp,
scent of money always in the air
dulled senses fade into the past.

But life reminds us now and again
often with the loss of loved one,
or just a reminder of our mortality
how swiftly our plans become undone.

Guilty pleasures lose their allure,
thoughts of lost relationships and family
tear mercilessly at our repentant hearts,
for another chance we desperately plea.

Tear filled memories eventually visit us all
inevitable as the slowly sinking Sun,
fearing a death shrouded in loneliness,
seeking a new start to a life already begun.

Very touching, and thoughtprovoking words that so touched my heart. Your poem is so true ... and one that makes us think. Life is indeed fleeting, Lol. A well written piece.... from the heart. Excellent... I loved it.

We should all make the most of the time we have here on earth and enjoy life, family and friends as if there is no tomorrow. Well done.
