Stealing Smiles

by Allison   Oct 22, 2009

She smiled her innocent smile,
Taking her hand in his,
He led her away.

She heard the choir singing,
Their bright and beautiful hymens
Forever in ingrained in her pretty little head.

The feeling of the brick on her back,
The autumn leaves crunched
Under her patten leather shoes.

This man held her innocence’s in his hands,
A delicate fragrant rose, crushed too young.
The thorns dug deep, making her bleed.

He smiled as she screamed
To be set free, but the singing was too loud,
Her half-grown voice too weak.

Pining her down,
She was too frail to flee.
He found what he sought.

His grip breaking more than just flesh.
Her rosary lay broken in the dirt.
As tears steamed down her young face.

They noticed she was missing,
But they were too late,
That sweet girl’s smile was no were to be found.

—He died last spring,
A car crash, I think.
I wonder how many more smiles he took away.
