I sit at her side,
I listen to her words,

Yet desire is all I ever achieve.
Meaningless flirtations thrown at me.
Heartfelt passion flows forth to her.
A mocking caricature I am in those eyes.
A plaything to be used.
A friend for a laugh or a cry,
But never a lover for a kiss or a sigh.
This heart in my chest throbs with want,
This pounding thing yearns for more.

I am dashed aside with all of my hopes.
Tear filled eyes attempt a smile.
Agony filled lips twist in a smirk.
Lungs gone numb spiral forth meaningless words,
