My Contaminated Oasis

by Alicia   Oct 24, 2009

My life could have been compared to a still body of water; pristine and as smooth as glass, reflecting light upon its surface. It was peaceful, calm, and dull.

You were my tidal wave. You affected every aspect of my life and made me wonder if there was more beyond my own little oasis I had created.

As strong as a wave, and as gentle is ripples upon the water, your influence has shown me that everything changes everything; and nothing changes everything.

You have led me into my own deeper waters and encouraged me to look closely at what is under the surface of my life. And so I looked, and saw what I had thought to be lucid and serene beneath my exterior, I discovered the turmoil I had hidden inside.

The muddied waters I was too ashamed to let anyone see. You cared enough to show me my unawareness of inner conflicts, whether you are conscious of this or not.

You were not afraid to show me the nothing that I had allowed to change everything, and yet, you are my everything that changed everything.
