She Takes A Leap

by Meena Krish   Oct 27, 2009

Frenzy fists pound against the door,

hoping

waiting for a reply

whilst she stands motionless
looking at the window.

Pleading voices beg for a chance
but her mind shuts off to reasons
her teary eyes becomes determined.

She climbs up the windowsill
looks at the lit street,

her hands shake uncontrollably.

Closing her eyes

a deep breath she inhales

her thumping heart eases its pace
and she smiles softly.

The door hastily breaks open,

into the night she takes a leap.

Meena what a chilling poem you have penned. You put so much emotion in everything you write and this was no exception.

It's so heart breaking when someone is so determined to take their own life, and refuse any help to pull them from that abyss. You have captured this so poignantly here. I unfortunately was there when someone commited suicide when I was in college. I will never forget that sad moment.

This was full of suspense not only because of how this was written but the format of it as well. A very powerful poem full of emotion. I really enjoyed this, it was something different full of imagery and well worth the read. (: Well done!

Meena, this is excellent. Suspense builds and your words create such a vivid image of that woman in the room, then jumping. Best I have read in a long while. Gets a nomination from me.
