Lost Love

by Ray Smallshaw   Oct 29, 2009

It's a pity, it's a shame,
That in our life's wonderful game,
Love was never enough for you and I,
Just how bloody stupid can we be,
You were once the loving part of me,

Yet, I went on hurting the one I loved,
Now all words are lost all meaning gone,
We have gone to far, no turning back,
As we have lost the trust through our lack,

No words can ever fix so we don't pretend,
We must part as as there's nothing we can mend,
Too many bridges burnt in our past.
I do love you and I always will.
Yet gone is that wanton thrill,

Just sadness now as shame sets in,
I know it is as it's hard for me to grin.
The lies and the sorrow in things I've said,
Have jumbled my brain in my now confused head,

Now all is heart-ache, anger and pain,
Leaving us sadness with nothing to gain,
Let us stop and face the truth,
Love for us is not enough as what I've said is the simple proof.
