Small Grain of Sand

by Megan Kardamis   Oct 30, 2009

I ran into an old friend yesterday
She asked me how we were doing
I turned away so I could say
Our hearts no longer existed as one
I don't know exactly what I had done
He has my heart, and all my love
I do not know how to get through this
I need some help from the lord above
She turned to me, looked me in the eyes
And said here is what you can do to get by

[chorus]
Stop dreaming day and night
About the love you lost
It will not make things right
Stop wishing back his heart
Just be happy
That you are apart
Stop wondering how he is doing
Because his love
Is not what you should be pursuing
Stop allowing your tears to spill
He is not worth it
No matter how bad you may feel
Keep your head held high
And never let him see you cry
Use this pain to help you grow
After all this, it will show
This was only a small grain of sand

Then she took me by the hand
Promise to pass these words on please
Whenever you see someone in need

I carried these words like a knife
To never let a guy back in
Felt as if that would be a sin
I built my walls up so high
No one could ever break them
No one would ever get by

As I was walking down the street
I ran into this young girl
She was crying and fell to her feet
I went to her with concern
She told me that she just lost the love of her life
And that is when I told her what it took to learn

[chorus]
I took her by the hand
Promise to pass these words on please
Whenever you see someone else in need

Carry on these words with love
Love these words you carry on
They will help you to stand strong
And nothing will ever go wrong
Just take them by the hand
And tell them to remember that small grain of sand
