My Crime

by Countess of Monte Cristo   Nov 2, 2009

Beloved from my past,
What part of move on don't you get?
Must you cry over spilt milk?
And waste your time with useless regret?

Please read the signs,
Separation was meant to be.
This love triangle I had to break,
For love has no room for three.

In any case, I have moved on,
And I really don't want to go back.
I've come too far already,
I would like to stay on track.

There is no need for you to explain,
We have passed that stage.
Love is not merely appearance,
I refuse this golden cage.

Yes, i love you deeply,
And i will do till i die.
But it doesn't mean i should have kept enduring,
I really don't see why.

I have one life to live,
If i had two i probably wouldn't mind.
But choosing between you and me was the issue,
That's why i left you behind.

I won't spend my precious life crying,
Just for you to notice my tears.
I've seen loyal women betrayed in an instant,
In a relationship that lasted for years.

Oh no, it is not i who puts my life aside,
I won't ever commit that mistake.
I simply cannot bear the drama,
I have no strength left in me for heartache.

So, it's too late for your apologies,
Please don't waste your time.
The verdict is decided upon already-
Putting up with you was my crime.

A very good poem that fits very nicely with
the quote. There are times where we have to
make the choice before it becomes too late.
    Take care..

It takes wisdom and strength to arrive at this point and to be able to tell the person. It is a crime against ourselves if we don't. Loved the quote. Well done.
