Midnight Sunday Shoes

by Good Enough   Nov 12, 2009

A walk along the river
In his midnight Sunday shoes
Running away from distant fears
The only way he knew

His secrets hid behind his tears
Gasping for escape
Clawing at his inner thoughts
But hidden by a cape

He is running away
From that tragic fear
And I tried to protect him
From the monsters that he hears

I took one night
That single silenced vow
To be there for him always
But never knew how

And now he is gone
Oh, sweet child, lost
In his midnight Sunday shoes
My life is what it cost

Ok I'm correct me if I'm wrong, but the way I interpret this poem is that, you were suppose to meet your lover, when he was at a state of lost and confusion, but some along the way to meet you, something happened to him? Well i think you need to elaborate more and I think if you want to emphasize on the Sunday midnight shoes, you need to explain the readers, how that shoe is inter-related to the whole story.

    Also do take note,

    1st stanza

    The he only knew
^^^ Maybe you would like to rephrase this sentence to "The only way he knew"

    3rd stanza

From the monsters he can hear
^^^ This sounds like a force rhyme, maybe you can rephrase it to "From the monsters that he hear"

    4th stanza

    To there for him always
^^^ I think you meant "To be there for him always"

Well overall i still enjoyed reading it. Keep writing yea:)
