Door 187 - Stanlee

by Stanlee   Nov 13, 2009

It was one person's madness
That cost me my heaven.
I only wanted to know
The world outside Door 187.

I was born and brought up
Inside that room, cold and dark.
The only music I heard was the chirping of crickets,
And the dogs' bark.

We never went out even for a single day
My family and I, we were all scared
My dad said, "I've forgotten how it looks outside."
To venture outside we never dared.

Through the keyhole I saw
A world that was forbidden to me.
Dried trees, empty swings,
Broken walls, was all I did see.

One day I saw a shiny white disk
Lying in the dust surrounded with rubble
I wondered how it got there, so I went out,
Though I knew it was nothing but trouble.

As soon as I grabbed it and reached the door
I saw a man carrying a gun, wearing a funny suit.
His eyes had no care, nor mercy
He raised his club; I cried but I went mute.

He vented all his anger out on me,
Even on my parents. He spared no one.
When he got tired wielding the club,
For further destruction, he pulled out his gun.

I heard my mother cry as I lay there in a pool of blood,
"After this hell, I can't wait to get to heaven."
These are my last words and thoughts
As I see my blood trickle down Door 187.
