Our Short Lived Love I Wont Forget

by Soulful Ensemble   Nov 14, 2009

"I'll love you from late July to late September",
Said my lovely Amber.
"I'll hold you warmly, though remember,
I wont be there until December."

"I understand, dear, I know you must be free
In fact I always knew thats how it had to be.
I just wish you didn't have to go to, instead
That my heart could leave with you", I said.

She said,"I know, I'm sorry, but you know I care for you
And that pieces of my soul will always be with you".
"Pieces of your soul?" I asked. " Well my heart is yours-
You can see it through the open double doors.
If you walk inside to you it'll soar."

"I'm sorry to break your heart, you know, I am.
I truly don't mean it, you understand?"
I replied, " yes I know, I do, but I don't like it still,
My love for you is in my will."

"You shouldn't love me so," she said sadly
"You shouldn't want to be with me so badly."
I told her, " its not something I do, dear
My heart is on the wheel."

"You knew there was a chance it wouldn't work
And that you'd take a fall", she sighed
"Yes, but even knowing it would fail to work
I'd say yes to you a million times."

"Ah, well, here we are", she nodded
"Who knows up or down, or left and right".
"I know left from right", I laughed
"Depending on which side you stand tonight."

She said she didn't understand.
I said it didn't matter.
She said, " oh, blah, good times,
I'm done with this chatter."

I asked her to stay just a bit
But she could not and said, " I'm dunzo."
I blew her a kiss and we split
Like the sun faded in one blow.

I walked by our tree the other day
And thought about these words to say:
"Don't leave and forget
Or remember in regret."
