The ultimate game

As I walked along, enjoying my day,
a stranger came and looked my way
he said "One moment sir... fancy a game?"
"why not" I said and agreed without shame.

"So what's this game" I asked with desire
"I'm glad you asked" his eyes growing wider
It's a game of wits, the winner gets a prize!"
"and whats that?" I asked, my suspicion in disguise

"Quite simple" he said, "If you win this game...
your hearts one desire I'll grant, yours to claim."
"If I lose?" I said, my eyes filled with fire,
"Oh nothing much, your soul is all I'll acquire."

So there I stood, my feet that of stone
he glared at my shock, an evil grin all that shown
I reached in my pocket in search of might
found my cross and gripped it tight

"I accept" I said, regaining my wits
my faith ever strong, and doubts turned to bits
"Wonderful!" he sneered, "Let the game begin...
by now you should see that you'll never win!"

I looked around, the sky had turned black
demons surround as if waiting to attack
but I stood firm in my place, there's no going back
beheld my enemy, no courage did I lack

"Well then..." he said with a grin
"I'll go first, may the best man win...
if I gave you a dollar sir, what would you do?"
"I'll take your dollar, then give you two"

"Bravo sir" he laughed, "but its not over yet...
that was round one, now it's time to bet.
I'll wager a minute, not much of my time."
"Then I call your minute, and raise you father time!"

"WELL DONE!!!", he bellowed with flame and fire
but I'm afraid you have lost, for I know your desire."
"Do your worst, Satan!" I screamed in defiance,
for I knew I would have help, an unbeatable alliance

"Very well..." he hissed, "let the final round begin!"
I fell to my knees, the crushing weight of my sins
"Prepare yourself, you'll never beat this!
I offer true love, and a life filled with bliss!"

Then all at once, just like that
the darkness gone, along with the demonic attack
in a field I stood, in surprise and amaze
surrounded by light from the suns golden rays

A man approached, though I could not make out a face
then he spoke with a voice that was full of grace
"Fear not my son, for I'm with you now"
the weight of my sins lifted by the glorious sound

and with that i fell, in the blink of an eye
back into hell, ready to die
fire engulfed me, yet there I stood firm
Satan gazing down, an answer he yearned

well... " he screeched, "I haven't got all day!
Give me your answer or forfeit your play!"

and with that I said...

"Well, Satan, you've played a tough game,
but you will lose today, and victory I'll claim!
you've tempted me, yet I've beaten you twice,
now I'll see your true love and raise you JESUS CHRIST

with that, Satan roared and all of Hell shook,
I closed my eyes, no more could I look
then all was silent, my eyes opened to see
I was back on my walk, happy as could be

I stood in awe, and gazed into the sky
praising his glory as a dove flew by
the clouds took shape and I could see his face
then he smiled upon me in amazing grace

We must give more to others, before to ourselves,
and have time enough to replenish faith's shelves
and most importantly, he died for us, and it's a fact
Jesus is true love and that's that!
