I opened my eyes

by Filledwithjoy   Nov 20, 2009

I close my eyes and see you
I see you there laughing
I see you smiling around people.

I open my eyes and I see you crying
Crying by yourself
Alone
Isolated
Alienated

I close my eyes and see you mucking round with your friends
Having fun

I open my eyes and see you shouting in frustration
Bashing the brick wall in anger
In grief

I close my eyes and I see you running around playing sport
Scoring a goal
Jumping up and down in excitement

I open my eyes and see you reaching for a razor
I see you lift your skirt up and your sobbing
Shaking, you put the razor on your thigh and you slice through
I see relief that hurt is gone.

I close my eyes and see you in class working hard
Then the bell rings and you walk out laughing with your friends at lunch time

I open my eyes and I see you sitting there draped up against the wall crying
Blood running from your thigh
The razor dropped on the floor

I close my eyes and see you flirting with the cute boy you had a crush on
As he asks you out on a date
Smoothly, you say yes
Then as soon as he walks away you squeal excitedly with your friends.

I open my eyes and I see you have a rope in your hand and you make a noose
You are calm yet empty
You feel as though you have nothing left to live for

I close my eyes as I see you at a rock concert moshing
Screaming at the band
Jumping up and down as high as you can

I open my eyes and see you put pen to paper
If only someone had opened their eyes.
You place it on your bed

I close my eyes and see the teacher walk into the classroom
You walk in late, you are quiet and reserved.
Its the end of the day and you say Goodbye
Not simply See you tomorrow!

I open my eyes as you walk away from school quiet and calm.
I race after you knowing something is up.
I ask you Are you okay?

I open my eyes as I walk into your room.
I see the note, the noose ready
And I see the razor.

I opened my eyes only just soon enough.
