My World

by Lady Nik   Nov 21, 2009

Held up so high
not even air reaches his lips.
Blushed but not bruised.
Red but still pale.
A natural beauty to behold

Such a rare phenomenon
that I hold so close to my being.
Reflected upon bold waters
lies the face of this boy
One look and worlds collide
just one... is all it takes.

I looked once--
my world has never been the same.

His face outlines the simple
dreams I have. Flashbacks from
past views create such
promising memories for
my mind. He smiles and
that's enough to make
me snatch the heart
from my chest
wrap it with eternal love
for him to keep.
The brightness cascading
fom his perfect smile
would take the place of my
beating heart.

Our love is a special one
not even death can break the
bond we have, There is
no heaven or hell. Evil or good.
Just me and him. Him and me.
Today, tomorrow, forever.

I spent so many arctic nights
locked inside myself, afraid to live,
to love, to exist. Until he said
"roll down your window
the world's out there."
Such a meaningless statement
at the time. A blank verse--
now harmony has formed
and profoundness has surfaced.

I understand the meaning of
"the world's out there"
now that I have him, I see the world.
I have the world. My window will
never stay rolled up now.

*Contest where I had to use either a title or a line from a song. But the song was
Our Love by Donavon Frankenreiter and the line was "roll down your window, the worlds out there."*

Their comes a time in our lives where we meet someone and they open up our minds and our hearts to something extraordinary. Didn't seem as powerful as some of your other work but still deserving of a 5/5 on pure emotion alone.

Love songs by Donavon Frankenreiter, my favorite, If It Don't Matter. I think you did a good job with the line from the song. Such a positive attitude to have about the world, roll down you window. Good job.
